Trimbakeshwar jyotirlinga is situated in trimbak town in Nashik city of Maharashtra. It is 30 kms from Nashik. Nearby railway station is in Nashik and nearby Airport is also in Nashik. 

It is the only jyotirlinga in India worships three lingas - Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. As there are three lingas in temple it is called trimabakeshawar. It is also believed to be mahadev's three eyes. 

Let's know the architecture of Trimabakeshawar.

Trimabakeshawar jyotirlinga's current building is made by peshwa Balaji baji rao. It was built after Aurangzeb destroyed it. It is believed that there was diamond named nassak in temple which was looted by Britishers. 

The origin of godavari river is near trimbakeshwar in nashik city. The godavari river and it's story is famous. The story goes this way, once Gautam Rishi used to live at Brahmagiri mountain with his wife. Once there was famine in the whole area. But due to special blessings of God the ashram of Rishi Gautam was unaffected by the famine. His farms are still in position to harvest. Seeing this gods and other rishis got jealous. They sent a holy cow to Rishi's aashram. The cow tried to destroy the farm. Rishi Gautam tried to get rid of cow and in doing so the cow lost the life. 

Now Gautam Rishi is under a sin. He has killed the holy cow which is considered sinful act. To vanish his sin he decided to pray lord shiva. After many years of prayer lord shiva decided to give him blessings. When lord shiva came infront of him, he requested lord shiva to ask ganga to flow in trimbakeshwar and in near by region. 

On his request, lord shiva told ganga to flow in south part of India. This way ganga started to flow in south and known as Godavari. By taking bath in godavari river one Rishi Gautam freed from his sin. 

It is believed that the one who visits trimbakeshwar jyotirlinga get rid of their sins. 

Near trimbakeshwar around 7 kms away lord Hanuman's birthplace is situated. The anjneri mountain is considered as auspicious place.
